"Consider it a government mantra: No Pet Left Behind. Or, if a pet is left behind during a disaster evacuation, it must have food and water, and the home must be marked to indicate to rescue workers that a pet is still inside. Departing owners should also bring a recent color photo of them and their pets, to help identify them later. These are among the lessons that New York City’s Office of Emergency Management officials are stressing to city pet owners in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, which displaced an estimated 200,000 animals....."

Let's Learn!

Is your canine companion in need of some obedience training? We have two new training classes starting November 3rd! The classes are an hour a week for 6 weeks and the cost is $150 plus tax. Basic 101 is from 7:15-8:15pm and Basic 102 is 8:30-9:30pm. By the end of the class your dog will learn all the basic commands, loose leash walking, and several common problem areas such as potty training, digging and chewing/biting. Call 845-371-4000 and sign up now because space is limited!

Low-cost Rabies Clinic!

Dr. Howard Gittelman and Dr. Lisa Schenkel from Animal Medical of New City are hosting their second annual low-cost Rabies vaccination clinic at the Pet Nutrition Center 115 East Route 59 in Nanuet, NY on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 1-5pm. The cost is $20 per pet and a limit of two pets per household but all of the proceeds are being donated to Hi-Tor Animal Care Center, Inc. Walk-ins will not be taken so call 845-638-3600 to schedule your appointment by October 15!

Louie is October's Camper of the Month!!!


Louie is our beloved Boxer who is full of joyful energy! He has a blast coming to camp and loves to chew on nylabones, wrestle with his friends and tell tons of stories! He also never misses the opportunity to get lots of hugs and kisses from his favorite counselors! Louie keeps the action going! Thank you Louie for being such a fun camper!!
